Intellectual Property and Alternative Dispute Resolution: Necessary Tools for the Development of Countries
In the context of one of the AP&R institutional meetings AP&R en Contexto, last Thursday, May 31, we counted on the presence of Adriana Vaamonde, executive director of the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce (CACC), who led, in the company of our partner Ricardo A. Antequera, ambassador on Intellectual Property matters for Venezuela of the International Chamber of Commerce (CCI), an interesting talk addressed to our legal team. In said talk, Adriana and Ricardo reviewed the ABC’s of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), pointing out their experience as professionals in the area with the specific approach to the reality of such field in Venezuela.
In this meeting, intended to promote the professional development of our lawyers, we could expand the awareness of what ADR represents in the modern world, emphasizing its importance for business development and foreign investment, given the confidence and security this option provides for obtaining justice.
As part of the reflections shared in the group interaction, it was concluded that Intellectual Property and ADR necessarily go hand in hand, since both are disciplines necessary to achieve the full development of a country and its economy (Venezuela is in debt to both areas for different reasons).
In Antequera Parilli & Rodríguez, we seek the comprehensive development of our professionals and are committed to the use of mediation, negotiation and arbitration and institutions such as the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce as essential allies in order to insert such alternative means in the corporate culture of our clients and associates, always with a view to a more efficient handling of the conflicts that may arise.
