Intellectual Property in Venezuela – New temporary electronic filing system
Starting on April 27th and until the national sanitary emergency remains effective, the Venezuelan Intellectual Property Office (SAPI) will have a new e-filing system for the following IP related matters:
- Trademark applications;
- Trademark searches;
- Recordal of assignments, changes of address or name of applicant, and mergers;
- Recordal of assignments, changes of address or name of applicant, and mergers;
- Patent applications; and
- Copyright related recordals.
All mandatory documents and its formalities such as notarizations, apostille or translations may be also digitally filed during this period along with each application, but its originals must be submitted in compliance with all mandatory formalities once SAPI has resume their regular operations.
Furthermore, and temporarily during the national emergency, all official fees must be paid in Venezuelan Bolivares through wire transfers to one of SAPI´s bank accounts.
We´re now processing all pending instructions keeping our commitment of efficiency and quality, but also in compliance with all our security protocols during the teleworking.
